Last Call

Election results in tonight, here in Kentucky, Dems rolled to several wins including Dinosaur Steve winning re-election by 20 points and Jack Conway winning 56-44% to remain state AG.

Ohio's Issue 2 went down in flames, AP called that one by 9:15 as the No votes were up by 25 points, but Issue 3, the terribly worded ballot issue rejecting HCR's individual mandate did win big.  It'll be challenged in court however.

AP also called Maine's ballot initiative to veto the GOP removing the state's decades-old same-day voter registration policy as successful.

In Mississippi, Initiative 26, the "personhood" amendment, was called a defeat by the AP with 58% voting no on it with half the vote counted.

All in all, a good, good election day for Dems.  Turnout matters, people.

Your Political Cartoon Of The Moment

And IBD's Michael Ramirez goes there again.

Yeah, see, the only real racism is how black liberals treat black conservatives, but then again we're too stupid and brainwashed on the liberal plantation to know that we're being racist.

Vote Or Die

Just in case you need any more motivation to go vote this afternoon before the polls close, remember Wisconsin.

Yesterday night, the Wisconsin Senate passed a bill that requires public school teachers “to promote abstinence and marriage over contraception in sex education classes.” Currently, sex education classes must include use of contraception in a comprehensive curriculum. Overturning the ban on abstinence-only classes passed last year, the bill will remove the contraception requirement and “instead mandate that schools teach that abstinence is the only reliable way to prevent pregnancy and disease. The benefits of marriage would also have to be taught.” The GOP bill passed 17-15 along party lines and now heads to the GOP-led Assembly. Republicans argue that they “are trying to back away from the bill passed last year that we feel mandated sex ed that was too nonjudgmental, too explicit and at too young an age.” State Sen. Jon Erpenbach (D), however, said simply that Wisconsin “was taking a step back to the Flintstone era.”

Republicans are like lithium.  Unless you keep them safely contained, the second they get out in the open they blow everything up.  And keep in mind this isn't a deep red southern state removing contraception or even sex from sex ed, this is Wisconsin.

Vote today if you haven't already.  Your local issues count.

Dehydrated Rock Hard Stupidity

Maximum stupidity, a stupidity so dense and heavy that it brings down any intellectual measurements.  A stupidity so huge that it creates a stupidity orbit, which snatches little stray pieces of stupidity into its realm by pure massive attraction.

Please meet Scary Republican Granny.  I ran across her on The Immoral Minority.  This woman takes crazy to exciting new levels.  The interviewer is hilarious.  A couple of times you can hear his tone go from amused to "holy crap you can't tell you're a joke?  Well, okay then!"  She gobbled up and pukes every hateful and factually challenged argument you've heard.

Living in Missouri, I am surrounded by clones of this old biddy.  I've spent my life living happy and loud in defiance of women like this, who are so uptight you couldn't pull a greased needle out of their ass with a John Deere tractor.  I shudder and gag because I know her a hundred times over.

And people wonder why we're moving out of here.

Missing Bellevue Child: Story Gets Worse

I was hoping to have good news about the missing two-year-old that was reported missing in Bellevue, Washington.  I knew the mom left the child alone in the car, but I still wasn't prepared when the full story came out.

The FBI has joined the search for a toddler missing since Sunday morning after his mother said she left him alone for an hour in an unlocked car in Bellevue, Wash.

The mother, whose name has not been released by police, said she was driving with her two children when she had run out of gas on busy 112th Avenue. So she and her 4-year-old trekked about a mile to a nearby gas station to Northtowne Chevron Service, leaving 2-year-old Sky Metalwala in the car. When they returned to the 4-door silver Acura an hour later, she said the boy was gone.

There was no sign of forced entry, according to police, who stopped searching the area near the car on Sunday.
Of course there was no sign of forced entry.  She left the goddamned car unlocked.  I am not kidding you, I actually got queasy when I read this.  There has been no mention of charges against the mother, but seriously... how could there not be?

Whatever happens to that innocent little boy is on her head.

Mittens Introduces His Jobs Plan

Mitt Romney has a great idea to help the economy and unemployment should he end up President in 2013:  fire a whole crapload of government employees.

Multimillionaire Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney (R) told employees at a steel fabrication plant on Monday that government employees “are making a lot more money than we are.”

Who's this "we" you speak of, Daddy Warbucks?

Wearing his best plaid work shirt and Tommy Bahama blue jeans, the candidate explained to workers at Giese Manufacturing that he would slash the number of federal employees if elected.

“We have to cut back on the scale of the federal government,” Romney declared. “And for me that will start by reducing federal employees by 10 percent. You do that through attrition.”

“And then something else that is just as important, and that’s to make sure the people who work for government don’t get better pay and better benefits than people that work in the private sector.”

Yes let's fire a bunch of people and cut their salaries.  This will make people want to work for the government.  PS, Government employees like Congresspeople and Presidents?  Free health care.  You ever notice how Republicans are always saying "pull yourself up by your bootstraps, it's your responsibility" and then say "We must pull those other people down to your level!" at the same time?

It's like they enjoy people being poor and out of work.  It makes us globally competitive, you see.

Classless Warfare, Part 2

The new figures on net worth and age are astounding: Americans over 65 have, on average, 47 times the net worth of Americans under 35 now.

According to analysis by the Pew Research Center released Monday, younger Americans have been left behind as the oldest generation has seen wealth surge since the mid-1980s.

While it's typical for older generations to hold more wealth than younger ones who've had less time to save, the gap between the two age groups has widened rapidly.

In 1984, households headed by people age 65 and older were worth just 10 times the median net worth of households headed by people 35 and younger.

But now that gap has widened to 47-to-one, marking the largest wealth gap ever recorded between the two age groups.

"We don't know how the story ends, but we know how the story is beginning," said Paul Taylor, executive vice president of the Pew Research Center. "At the beginning, today's young people are not doing better than yesterday's young adults."

By the way, this means Republicans of course will say "It's time to cut Social Security to fix this wealth imbalance!"  Of course, what that means is the people already over 65 get to keep their benefits, and those my age will never see Social Security at all, so by "fix" I mean "The Republicans finish the wealth transfer from my generation and younger to the Boomers."

And so it goes.  Perhaps we can get to 100 to 1 after the next crash.
