Dear America

Dear America:

"Are you convinced yet that with Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton that there's simply no room for white men in the Democrat party anymore?"

--Josh Kraushaar, National Journal

Bonus Verbatim Stupid(tm):

It's part of why freshman Sen. Elizabeth Warren inspires excitement from the party's grassroots, but former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley, whose progressive record in office set liberal benchmarks, isn't even polling at 1 percent nationally. It's why Sherrod Brown, a populist white male senator from a must-win battleground state is an afterthought in the presidential sweepstakes. It's why Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine, a runner-up to be Obama's running mate in 2008, quickly jumped on the Clinton bandwagon instead of pursuing any national ambitions. On Bernstein's list of 16 possible challengers, 15 are white and nine are white males. That makes many of them untenable standard-bearers in the modern Democratic Party.

Got that? White men are now "untenable" as Democratic candidates, according to Republican white guy, who hopes white men will choose to vote GOP to punish everyone else.

Somehow I don't think Josh here has the best interests of the Democrats in mind.

Dear America:

"Why hasn't That One been impeached yet?  I guess it's the fault of the liberal media and those people.  If Bush had done 1% of what Obama did, he'd be imprisoned in the Negative Zone or something."

--Victor Davis Hanson, Works and Days

Bonus Verbatim Stupid:

Think of the following: the Fast and Furious scandal, the VA mess, the tapping of the communications of the Associated Press reporters, the NSA monitoring, Benghazi in all of its manifestations, the serial lies about Obamacare, the failed stimuli, the chronic zero interest/print money policies, the serial high unemployment, the borrowing of $7 trillion to no stimulatory effect, the spiraling national debt, the customary violations of the Hatch Act by Obama cabinet officials, the alter ego/fake identity of EPA head Lisa Jackson, the sudden departure of Hilda Solis after receiving union freebies, the mendacity of Kathleen Sebelius, the strange atmospherics surrounding the Petraeus resignation, the customary presidential neglect of enforcing the laws from immigration statutes to his own health care rules, the presidential divisiveness (“punish our enemies,” “you didn’t build that,” Trayvon as the son that Obama never had, etc.), and on and on.
So why is there not much public reaction or media investigatory outrage?

Maybe because everyone thinks the right-wing's permanent clown show isn't worth giving a damn about, Vic.   But please, go scream BENGHAZI and FAST AND FURIOUS some more, and see if Obama's still President tomorrow.

Spoilers:  he will be.

Also, the thought of someone at Pajamas Media screaming that there's not enough outrage against Obama is the most obnoxiously stupid complaint ever.  Please go away.

Dear America:

"Far be it from me to politically take advantage of the tragedy in Santa Barbara last week, but clearly Elliot Rodger was everything wrong with liberal and liberalism and the left.  The fact is the vast majority of criminal scumbags out there have to be, by definition, liberals.  (Or black.  Same difference.)  Clearly we need huge piles of guns to protect us from Obama."

Actual Verbatim Stupid:

Actually, mass shootings are pretty equally distributed among ethnic groups. The worst mass shooter in American history was an Asian-American, Seung-Hui Cho, and an African-American, John Muhammad, murdered at least ten people in the D.C. area. And, of course, the overall homicide rate among African-Americans is something like eight times the white rate.

Now, you and I would probably interpret "pretty equally distributed among ethnic groups" as 1 to 1, or at least "in a ratio similar to the US population as a whole" if I was going to be generous.  Instead, Hinderaker finds two non-white mass shooters in the last 15 years and says "yeah, it's equal".  OK.

Bonus Verbatim Stupid:

Beyond that, some might argue that Rodger was a prototypical liberal male, only carried to a pathological extreme. Consider the profile: socially awkward, convinced of his own brilliance but not notably successful in life, hungry for revenge against those who have done better despite their obvious inferiority, eager to gain power over others, but through political influence rather than firearms–is this not a typical liberal on Twitter, or elsewhere on the internet? Or, for that matter, in the Obama administration? Isn’t state power the legal path to the long-awaited revenge of the liberal nerds? This strikes me as a plausible suggestion.

To recap, Hinderaker apparently believes the Obama administration and indeed liberalism itself is full of Elliot Rodgers, angry nerds with revenge fantasies who simply haven't yet acted upon them, and this pretty much justifies whatever measures are necessary to deal with them.  You know, more guns.

Sure, that's not paranoia or anything.  Jesus.

Dear America

"The Selfie Administration?  That seems about right.  Obama's teenage clowns aren't ready to run anything, they certainly weren't able to solve the disasters Bush left for them both foreign and domestically and everybody basically hates the uppity bastard.  He certainly doesn't have the gravitas of George W. Bush and his top political adviser, Karl 'Turd Blossom' Rove."

--Bruce McQuain, Hot Air

Bonus Verbatim Stupidity:

It is a pretty fair and devastating summary of an immature, selfie-taking, hashtag loving administration. Intentions speak louder than action in their world. They don’t take criticism well. And they are about as petty as it comes when talking about their opposition. They demand respect for the man in office, but the man in office shows no respect to those whose views differ from him.

He is also given very little if any respect in the world because he’s really done nothing to earn it (and quite a bit to unearn any he had when he took office).

Right, because the party that insisted President Obama was The Kenyan Usurper and regularly portrayed him as an African savage, regularly attacked him as a Communist dictator and traitor to America for doing things other Presidents were happily allowed to do (recess appointments, executive orders, judicial appointments), that tried to repeal Obamacare 50+ times, and when that didn't work, launched yet another pointless Benghazi investigation certainly cannot be classified as petty, thin-skinned, or disrespectful towards the views of those who disagree with them.

Instead, he's just the Affirmative Action president.  The only thing he did to deserve the office was, you know, win an election and then win re-election, but screw him, right?  That's not how we really select presidents or anything.

If Barack Obama really was as awful a person as they project on to him daily, some people would have been shot by now.  That's all I'm saying.

Dear America

"Only the unenlightened fascist thugs of the left would have the science editor at the New York Times fired for publishing a book on the genetic inferiority of those people when it's the settled, scientific truthBesides, none of them could possibly be smart as I am, anyway."

--Vox Day, Vox Popoli

Bonus Verbatim Stupid:

The Left is more than uncomfortable with both science and the conclusions that logically follow from it. It is now openly and avowedly anti-science. What is fascinating is that most clueless Leftists still feverishly insist that they, and not the Right, are pro-science even as they reject it in favor of various nonexistent ideals. As I have repeatedly pointed out since last August, the time for tolerating the Left has passed. Your only choice now is to submit to them or to shatter them.

Remember kids, climate change, massive hoax perpetrated by thousands of scientists.  Black people are genetically inferior to white people, settled scientific because you guys Vox Day is really, really smart and he listens to this guy who says so.

But the left is "openly and avowedly anti-science".

Dear America:

"Benghazi is THE END of Obama, do you hear me?  THE END of Obama and THE END of the Democrat Party and THE END of liberalism and it will all come crashing down around and THEN WHAT, LIBTARDS?  THEN WHAT?!?!

Facts?  Umm...BENGHAZI! I WIN!"

--Ron Christie, Daily Beast

Bonus Verbatim Stupid:

The Obama administration has misled, dissembled, and otherwise given the finger to the families of those who lost their lives that night in service to their country. I’m willing to believe that the personnel on the ground in Benghazi were terrified, confused, and hoping the cavalry was on its way to save them from terrorists seeking to kill them. We need a Special Select Committee on Benghazi to ascertain these facts and ensure that such a disaster never occurs again. We need truth, not bullsh*t, from the president and his administration, but so far, that’s all they’ve been shoveling.

I'm willing to believe that hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and Afghans were terrified, confused, and hoping the cavalry was on its way too during the Bush administration, but we were too busy murdering them for being brown..  But it sure is fun to pretend that there's some grand cover-up that resulted in four dead bodies when Bush's incompetence cost us a couple thousand times that.

I'm sure this will somehow cause real problems for President Obama's re-election campaign.

Sunday, May 4, 2014

Dear America

"As a white male college freshman at Princeton, your assumption that my race or gender provides me with any advantages is the racist and misandrist proof that I'm really at a massive disadvantage compared to women and minorities.  Also I'm Jewish, so that must mean you're anti-Semitic as well.  But I don't apologize for being a rich white Jewish kid because I need that leg up in order to balance out how awful it is being a white man on a college campus in 2014, so the rest of you need to get over your jealousy already and maybe someday you'll be as awesome as I am.  YOLO, you sad bitches. YOLO."

-- Tal Fortgang, TIME Magazine

Bonus Verbatim Stupid:

Behind every success, large or small, there is a story, and it isn’t always told by sex or skin color. My appearance certainly doesn’t tell the whole story, and to assume that it does and that I should apologize for it is insulting. While I haven’t done everything for myself up to this point in my life, someone sacrificed themselves so that I can lead a better life. But that is a legacy I am proud of.

I have checked my privilege. And I apologize for nothing.
I got mine.  Screw the rest of you.  Right, Tal?

Dear America

"This whole notion that the White House has a PR department and they had talking points on Benghazi is probably the most treasonous thing is the history of all mankind since I'm intellectually incapable of recalling anything done by the Dubya administration.  But since this is the worst thing since mankind was created, why won't Hillary Clinton just throw that one under the bus and split the Democratic Party in half and ruin her chances in 2016 like I want her to?  I don't understand, I have her best interests at heart."

--Jennifer Rubin, Washington Post

 Bonus Verbatim Stupid:

And frankly Hillary Clinton’s supporters should encourage this. The spinning here originated from the White House (and persisted there until Sep. 25). Why should she take the fall for a “cover-up”? To be candid, she may have been responsible for the attack by failure to recognize the massive influx of al-Qaeda into Libya, but it was the White House that clung to the video narrative up through the president’s Sept. 25 speech at the United Nations. What’s the point in protecting aides in a failing presidency if Hillary Clinton’s reputation and potential presidential campaign could be in the balance?

Because Jennifer Rubin is so very concerned about Hillary Clinton's political career

Dear America

"Liberals are all race-baiters anyway, and the whole Donald Sterling case is less about racism (which makes no financial sense for an NBA owner) and all about his gold-digging whore mistress.  At best it's a domestic dispute, and at worst he's being set up by Obama and the NAACP.  It's Reverse Racism Othello, with a poor old doddering man.  I don't see what the fuss is about."

--John Hinderaker, Power Line

Bonus Verbatim Stupid:

This sad domestic drama has become the best evidence the Left can come up with of the ongoing legacy of slavery and discrimination. It merits denunciation by the President of the United States, who locates the old man’s sad story in the grand sweep of history.

On the tape, Donald Sterling says, “I love the black people.” I can’t vouch for his sincerity, but there is nothing in the DMZ/Deadspin tapes that belies that sentiment. It is telling that this domestic upheaval between an aging billionaire and his gold-digging, disloyal mistress represents the best the Left can come up with to support its claim that racism and the “legacy of race and slavery and segregation” is alive and well. As for Sterling, he is merely collateral damage. That Lifetime Achievement award was almost in his grasp, when he became more useful to the Left as a villain. Something tells me, however, that Stiviano will land on her feet.

So because it doesn't make financial sense to be a racist sports franchise owner, it ergo cannot be racism, because certainly the NBA wouldn't look the other way with a billionaire owner or anything for 30 years.

What Hinderaker doesn't understand about racism and discrimination could fill the Library of Congress, but the bottom line is that there's a power component to racism.  Being a billionaire NBA owner, a club of 30 such billionaires, definitely fits the "power" definition to me.  The NBA doesn't want an ugly mess on its hands or to damage its multi-billion dollar brand, so old man Sterling gets a pass and has for three decades.  He gets to keep owning the team until such point as he craps the bed and hurts the league and all the other owners.  He gets to employ black players who make him a lot of money, and a black head coach in Doc Rivers who has gotten his team into the playoffs.  Staples built him a new stadium.  Power and privilege is awesome.

And Hinderaker dismisses it, because for him to admit that racism still exists would blow a hole in all of his high horse nonsense.  To him it's just his "gold-digging, disloyal mistress" getting revenge.

But it's never racism when a white person with billions does it.  Can't be.

Dear America

I am intellectually incapable of coming up with a plausible scenario in which one good thinking American approves of Barack Obama's job performance, much less 47% of us. I will therefore make a grand conjecture about if these evil, worhtless wayward souls are merely pitiful wretches on federal welfare, if they are simple morons, if they are brainwashed by the evil liberal media, if they are anti-white racists, or what is most likely, a combination of the above factors.

--John Hinderaker, Power Line

Bonus Verbatim Stupid:

I think that all of the above explanations account for some of the 47%. When the federal government spends $3.8 trillion a year, it can buy a lot of votes. Remember that every one of those 3.8 trillion dollars represents a check that someone cashed. Beyond that, I have written many times about the over-the-top emails with which the Democratic Party bombards its members, painting Republicans as, more or less, the Devil. Repetition is persuasive, and many millions of Democrats will probably say they approve of any Democratic president, regardless of how he performs. (The same, for better or worse, is not true of Republican voters.) And there is no doubt that a huge number of voters are astonishingly ignorant about the issues. This is demonstrated by every man in the street interview on YouTube.

Ahh, if all of us would only watch FOX News and would learn the truth, Obama would have an approval rating of 0%.   On the other hand, the category of those people has now been expanded to include "anyone who thinks President Obama is doing a good job."

The GOP will have to make sure they get punished.

Dear America

Another one of these this week.  Man, it's getting to be silly season out here.

"Boy, liberals sure are delusional kooks over this inequality crap.  Why can't they just accept that life isn't fair, we're not created equal by any stretch of the imagination, and that the haves will beat the have-nots every time?"

--Thomas Sowell, National Review Online

Bonus Verbatim Stupid(tm):

The fundamental problem of the political Left seems to be that the real world does not fit their preconceptions. Therefore they see the real world as what is wrong, and what needs to be changed, since apparently their preconceptions cannot be wrong.

This coming from people who believe the Earth is 6,000 years old and that all the scientific evidence otherwise was planted to test the faithless, that evolution is a horrific myth that must be challenged, that man-made global warming is a massive hoax designed to sell Tesla cars, that President Obama was born in Kenya, and that the scam of science itself is the primary function of academia the world over.

But the real world doesn't fit the left's preconceptions.  Sure, that's the problem.  This guy is projecting like a lighthouse hooked up to a nuclear reactor, methinks.

Monday, August 26, 2013

Dear America

"I'm going to talk about race and say that the black reaction to the tragic murders of white people Chris Lane and Delbert Belton not warranting national demonstrations like Trayvon Martin's death proves that those same savage, riot-prone black people who are always talking about race are the real source of America's race problem.  Right, Obama?"

--Kathleen Parker, Washington Post

Bonus Verbatim Stupid:

We do know this much for certain: Had the races been reversed, the usual suspects would have had much to say. White teens beat up an elderly black veteran and leave him for dead? White teens shoot a talented black athlete visiting from another country?

Riots.

Because all we black folk are?  Barely contained, quasi-human Whitey-seeking time bombs set off by the mere appearance of racism, just waiting to detonate in your neighborhood, your schools, your churches, your workplaces, and your block parties with fruit salad.  That's why we need stand your ground laws, so shooting one of us in self-defense because you're terrified isn't a criminal act.  It's better for everyone that way.

At least in the twisted, awful funhouse that is Kathleen Parker's personal, paranoid hell of a mind.  Jesus, how does the woman walk outside without macing everyone darker than John Boehner and peeing herself in sheer terror?

And just for the record, this is pretty much the most blatantly awful, race-baiting piece of nonsense I think the Washington Post has ever has the misfortune of printing.  It's that bad.

Sunday, July 14, 2013

Dear America:

Roger L. Simon at PJ Media:  "Dear America:  The Zimmerman trial? It's Obama's fault.  It's always Obama's fault."

Bonus Verbatim Stupid:

"This is the work of a reactionary, someone who consciously/unconsciously wants to push our nation back to the 1950s.

It is also the work of a narcissist who thinks of himself first, of his image, not of black, white or any other kind of people. It’s no accident that race relations in our country have gone backwards during his stewardship."

Because to the right, it's always Obama's fault.

Dear America

"Mitt Romney had the best foreign policy trip of all time over the last week.  If it wasn't for that awful liberal media that covered the things he actually said or did, you would have known that too."

--John Hinderaker, Power Line

Bonus Verbatim Stupid:

By any reasonable standard, Romney’s trip has been successful. Yet press coverage has been unrelentingly negative. This AP story sums up the press’s angle well: “Another hiccup? Romney’s foreign trip not smooth.” To hear the AP tell it, Romney has committed one blunder after another.

If our press just ignored all the moronic, insulting, amazingly daft things that Mitt Romney says on a regular basis, why he'd be Ronald Effing Reagan.  I'm sure of it!

Last Call

Dear Wall Street Journal:

While you're busy this Independence Day telling us how great America was economically in 1776 with low taxes and high per capital income compared to the rest of the world (and waxing nostalgic for that time again, apparently):

Almost every American knows the traditional story of July Fourth—the soaring idealism of the Declaration of Independence, the Continental Congress's grim pledge to defy the world's most powerful nation with their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor. But what else about revolutionary America might help us feel closer to those founders in their tricornered hats, fancy waistcoats and tight knee-breeches?

Those Americans, it turns out, had the highest per capita income in the civilized world of their time. They also paid the lowest taxes—and they were determined to keep it that way.

By 1776, the 13 American colonies had been in existence for over 150 years—more than enough time for the talented and ambitious to acquire money and land. At the top of the South's earners were large planters such as George Washington. In the North their incomes were more than matched by merchants such as John Hancock and Robert Morris. Next came lawyers such as John Adams, followed by tavern keepers, who often cleared 1,000 pounds a year, or about $100,000 in modern money. Doctors were paid comparatively little. Ditto for dentists, who were almost nonexistent.

Let's recall that a good part of out national GDP was built on one rather large omission from your article there:  SLAVERY, YOU ASSHOLES.  Frederick Douglass said it best 160 years ago:

What, to the American slave, is your 4th of July? I answer; a day that reveals to him, more than all other days in the year, the gross injustice and cruelty to which he is the constant victim. To him, your celebration is a sham; your boasted liberty, an unholy license; your national greatness, swelling vanity; your sounds of rejoicing are empty and heartless; your denunciation of tyrants, brass fronted impudence; your shouts of liberty and equality, hollow mockery; your prayers and hymns, your sermons and thanksgivings, with all your religious parade and solemnity, are, to Him, mere bombast, fraud, deception, impiety, and hypocrisy -- a thin veil to cover up crimes which would disgrace a nation of savages. There is not a nation on the earth guilty of practices more shocking and bloody than are the people of the United States, at this very hour.

Go where you may, search where you will, roam through all the monarchies and despotisms of the Old World, travel through South America, search out every abuse, and when you have found the last, lay your facts by the side of the everyday practices of this nation, and you will say with me, that, for revolting barbarity and shameless hypocrisy, America reigns without a rival....

Or as the Wall Street Journal seems to think, "We miss the good old days."  See, there's a mild problem with all this tricorner hat and drum and fife bullshit, because my ancestors at the time sure as hell didn't have much to celebrate on the 4th of July for the first 175 or so years of this country's existence other than "Well, at least we're not slaves and we can finally vote, so that's pretty good, right?"

Sure.  Happy 4th and all.

Bunch Of Bubble Heads

Conservative Michael Barone has figured out why liberals don't always win, their refusal to accept wingnut framing of arguments means we're "cocooned" away from "reality".  His clever assault begins thusly:

It's comfortable living in a cocoon -- associating only with those who share your views, reading journalism and watching news that only reinforces them, avoiding those on the other side of the cultural divide.

Liberals have been doing this for a long time.

It may be the the least self-aware passage ever penned by a conservative pundit.  It gets worse from there, but the gist of it is since Barone lives in his own impenetrable cocoon of Derp, he argues that because liberals don't choose to accept the perfection of the FOX News reality simulator, they can't win arguments with conservatives.

In other words, liberals can only win in Barone's eyes if they accept the fact they've already lost.  And since they've already lost, why bother winning?  Didn't you know all real Americans go to megachurches and watch Hannity and listen to Rush?  The rest of you people live in a cocoon.  You should try it!

Of course, the outfits that are dedicated to fighting the right's message on their own terms by listening to Rush and watching FOX and going after them?  Yeah, they don't exist in Barone's world, apparently.  Funny how that works, right?

Last Call

Dear America --

"We can't really know anything about how massively cutting revenues with back-loaded spending dumped on Bush's successor unbalanced the government or the economy, because if Obama can't handle the fact Bush took Clinton's balanced budget and put us in the worst financial meltdown in 3 generations, well he's not very good of a President, is he?  Why don't you blame the firefighters who have been there for almost four years instead of the arsonists who were there for eight and now long gone?"

Bonus Verbatim Stupid:

The new blame-Bush-forever argument shows, once and for all, that the Democrats' Bush obsession has raced completely out of control. Barack Obama has been president nearly four years and is asking for four more. The election is about him.

American history didn't exist until January 20, 2009 you know.   Mathematics, economics, those are for idealists and fools.  Real men blame Obama for not being able to fix the problem despite nearly four years of continuous Republican objection to him being President at all.

Saturday, April 7, 2012

Dear America:

"This President is awful.  I mean really, really, really awful.  If you vote for him in November, it means you're stupid because you've bought his awful argument that Big Oil, Wall Street and Republicans actually have anything to do with how awful the country is right now, and you're not stupid, are you?"

--Jay Cost, Weekly Standard

Bonus Verbatim Stupid:

If Obama is reelected with such terrible feelings about the national condition, it will be unprecedented in the history of public opinion polling. Obviously, that would be no little feat, so what this president is doing is a classic case of misdirection.

The country needs a bad guy to blame for its problems, so day in and day out Obama is providing them with a smorgasbord of villains from which to choose: Wall Street, Big Oil, the Tea Party, Paul Ryan, Rush Limbaugh, the Supreme Court, the Catholic Church, and so on. In fact, virtually everything that comes out of this president’s mouth is about redirecting blame onto some straw man.

Super Bonus Complete Takedown, courtesy of BooMan:

He says these are straw men. But, ask yourself, how have these groups been comporting themselves? Do we have any reasons to be critical of Wall Street? Big Oil? The Tea Party? Paul Ryan? The Supreme Court? The Catholic Church?

It's telling that BooMan can eradicate Cost's 1500 word tirade with a single paragraph.   Most of all, we need better conservatives.  Just because the entire conservative argument is "No, YOU'RE the ones who are destroying the country!" doesn't make it true.

Tuesday, March 27, 2012

Dear America:

"It's better for America's elderly to be disposed of, broke and in landfills, then to subject them to living longer lives under the Kenyan Colonialist's socialist hell.  Just push them out onto the iceberg where they will die free rather than live in slavery.  Also, get rid of the death tax."

--John Hinderaker, Power Line

Bonus Verbatim Stupid:

My own preference is to phase out Medicare. The Constitution gives the federal government no general responsibility with respect to the medical care of its citizens, elderly or otherwise.

The rest of that paragraph goes on, but there's no need to.  You're on your own if these guys get their way, America.  But at least you'll have the freedom to die because you couldn't afford health care, like Grilled Cheezus and Ben Franklin wanted.

Saturday, March 17, 2012

Dear America:

"Who you calling stupid, Obama? I mean damn that Obama boy is stupid, stupid, stupid himself.  I mean you liberals thought Bush was stupid, but Obama is dumber than an empty septic tank.  He may be the dumbest President we've ever had.  Rutherford B. Hayes never said ''It's a great invention, but who would ever want to use one' about the telephone! This proves my central point of how stupid and dumb and stupid Obama is.  What do you say to that, libtards?"

--Mark Steyn, National Review

Bonus Verbatim Stupid:

So let's see. The president sneers at the ignorance of 15th century Spaniards when, in fact, he is the one entirely ignorant of them. A man who has enjoyed a million dollars of elite education yet has never created a dime of wealth in his life sneers at a crippled farm boy with an eighth-grade schooling who establishes a successful business and introduces electrical distribution across Michigan all the way up to Sault Ste Marie. A man sneers at one of the pioneering women in broadcasting, a lady who brought the voices of T.S. Eliot, G.K. Chesterton and others into the farthest-flung classrooms and would surely have rejected Obama's own dismal speech as being too obviously reliant on "Half-A-Dozen Surefire Cheap Cracks For Lazy Public Speakers." A man whose own budget officials predict the collapse of the entire U.S. economy by 2027 sneers at a solvent predecessor for being insufficiently "forward-looking."

A great nation needs successful self-made businessmen like George Peck, and purveyors of scholarly excellence like Mary Somerville. It's not clear why it needs a smug over-credentialed President Solyndra to recycle "Crowd-Pleasing For Dummies" as a keynote address.

They all laughed at Christopher Columbus, they all laughed at Edison... How does that song continue? "They laughed at me..."

At Prince George's Community College they didn't. But history will, and they will laugh at us for ever taking him seriously.

Yes, history will surely destroy the mentally deficient Obama for that Hayes quote.  Meanwhile, wake me up when the President does does something worse than attributing a quote wrongly to Rutherford B. Hayes and instead says stupid garbage like this.

Then get back to me, Steyn, on whom history will judge more harshly.
