Playing The Paranoia Angle

If anything, Harry Reid's re-election staff has to be thrilled to find out they are up against Sharon Angle in Nevada.  TPM reveals why:
The peculiar ideology of Sharron Angle, the Republican nominee challenging Sen. Harry Reid in Nevada, is perhaps no better illustrated than by her embrace of the patriot group Oath Keepers, whose membership of uniformed soldiers and police take an oath to refuse orders they see as unconstitutional -- including enforcement of gun laws, violations of states' sovereignty, and "any order to blockade American cities, thus turning them into giant concentration camps."

"We support what the organization stands for," Angle's husband, Ted, told TPMDC in a phone interview Monday. "Sharron does."

Members of Oath Keepers -- whose motto is "Not on our watch!" -- take a 10-item oath affirming that they will not, for example, force citizens into detention camps or invade a state "that asserts its sovereignty and declares the national government to be in violation of the compact by which that state entered the Union."
I've talked about the Oath Keepers before.  These guys are the new face of the Patriot movement in America, and they're pretty scary.  If Sharon Angle's in bed with these guys, Harry Reid's going to have a far easier time than I thought portraying Angle as a paranoid right wing nutjob.

Does Nevada have a Rand Paul-sized problem, or does Kentucky have a Sharon Angle-sized problem?  We'll see.

  1. 1. We will NOT obey any order to disarm the American people.
Ok, so they are for 2nd amendment rights.

    2. We will NOT obey any order to conduct warrantless searches of the American people, their homes, vehicles, papers, or effects -- such as warrantless house-to house searches for weapons or persons.
So they believe in your rights as a private citizen and believe in the laws of our country.

    3. We will NOT obey any order to detain American citizens as “unlawful enemy combatants” or to subject them to trial by military tribunal
Figured you'd be all for this since you're against KSM going before a military tribunal.

    4. We will NOT obey orders to impose martial law or a “state of emergency” on a state, or to enter with force into a state, without the express consent and invitation of that state’s legislature and governor.
Again, whats the problem? They will follow laws...

    5. We will NOT obey orders to invade and subjugate any state that asserts its sovereignty and declares the national government to be in violation of the compact by which that state entered the Union.
so they believe in the 10th amendment (This one must really bug you libs)

    6. We will NOT obey any order to blockade American cities, thus turning them into giant concentration camps.
Why would we ever need to blockade an American city?

    7. We will NOT obey any order to force American citizens into any form of detention camps under any pretext.
Which again, why would anyone be for that?

    8. We will NOT obey orders to assist or support the use of any foreign troops on U.S. soil against the American people to “keep the peace” or to “maintain control” during any emergency, or under any other pretext. We will consider such use of foreign troops against our people to be an invasion and an act of war.
    Article I, Section 8,

    9. We will NOT obey any orders to confiscate the property of the American people, including food and other essential supplies, under any emergency pretext whatsoever.
You support this I'm sure, you're throwing a fit over health care that people don't even have. Let alone taking items they do have :-)

    10. We will NOT obey any orders which infringe on the right of the people to free speech, to peaceably assemble, and to petition their government for a redress of grievances.
First amendment rights, without which I couldn't sit here and tell you how fail Obama is. God Bless America!

Seems to me you're starting to suffer from GOP Derangement Syndrome
