Sherman, Set The Wayback Machine For April 2009

Back when conservatives threw a fit because of a Homeland Security report that warned of anti-government extremist violence.  Here's what I said back then:

These same people told us we had to have this oppressive gulag-era secret police wiretapping and security apparatus in place to protect us from the Great Beturbaned Brown Horde. The fact that the apparatus still exists is a problem, of course. But it's now it's feeling out the same whackos that gave birth to it.

Only now, in the last 24 hours, is this all a bad thing to these idiots. They didn't care if Bush used it on Americans, as long as those Americans weren't conservative Republicans, the rest of the effing country was fair game. Anyone who wasn't a conservative Republican was of course a suspect Muslim terrorist sympathizer.

The mere possibility that the tables have been turned and Bushenstein's Monster has turned on its creators had never, ever, ever, occurred to them.

More importantly we were told that the notion that anti-government lunatics who resented the government enough to want to resort to violence was all just Obama administration propaganda from a deeply paranoid administration who hated the Constitution and hated veterans and hated rule of law and should accept the eliminationist rhetoric as free speech and shut up already.

Except that, you know, the report was right.

And it wasn't the first time, either.

    I pity the left.

You have to. They're not right in the head. The paranoia, the violence fantasies, the projection, the arrogance of hubris.

They aren't even aware of what they've done, most of them.

Walk away from the blog, Zandar. You've clearly snapped...

  6. Here is what Zander said here:

    His politics didn't matter.

    In this post, Zandar says:

Except that, you know, the [Homeland Security] report [that warned of anti-government extremist violence] was right.

Can't have it both ways. Which is it?

  8. Grr. also, Blogger still needs an edit function.

And this is why you are a moron, Stevie-boy. Because you are.

Yes, you can have it both ways. You can see the report, admit it was correct, and still think that this was a disturbed person and not necessarily a political attack.

It's not that hard. It's like Wikileaks. You can think that Wikileaks is a worthy project and that Julian Assange is a creepy asshole.

You can do it! You can look at two thoughts and not have them conflict at all. All you have to do is try.

And, you know, not be a moron.

    ---

To be fair though, I have not seen enough to judge if this is political or not (although I imagine this will change in a couple of days), although I am particularly interested in the 'person of interest' the authorities are looking for. I am thinking they will be important.

And no, hopeful hearsay of someone who "knows" him saying he was possibly a liberal four years ago doesn't count. I was a fucking libertarian then (or maybe it was a bit farther back, I don't know. It's a place I'm not happy to revisit.), political views change, and can change radically. I want current stuff here. That should come out in time.

Although, I AM getting this hasty, "he did it!", vibe. You know, the kind when you are playing ball or something in the house and accidentally break your mother's favorite vase, and immediately point to your little brother or dog or something and exclaim "he did it!".

Oh well, pony's in the mail, Stevie-boy.

Yes, you can have it both ways.

And now for something completely different. StarStorm will now indulge us with the idea that communism is good even though more than 100 million people were murdered by those who implemented and ran communist governments.

And now LEFTIST FORMER DEMOCRAT Fred Phelps and his Westboro Baptist loonies will protest the funeral of the girl who was killed by a LIBERAL ANARCHIST.

America will never forgive what the LEFT has doen this week.

    Nor will we forgive.

I demand Zandar's HATE SPEECH BLOG apply his own standard to himself and liberalism and renounce Fred Phelps and the violence of the left over the last 50 years.

Still waiting for a response from Zandar to the excellent points in this thread.

You cannot criticize rhetoric without first admitting your own guilt, Zandar.

If the Right has blood on its hands over Tuscon, so does the Left.

And while I await your response, Zander, I will be sadly fapping myself to the evening news.

Maybe I'll treat myself, and wash the cheese doodle dust from my hand first.

I wish my keyboard wasn't sticky.
