ReplyDeleteAs I see it, the Great Society was not just successful in expanding the Black Middle Class it was way too successful to suit the racists: better to crash the whole country than to allow the wrong people to succeed. The white middle class knew that they would take an economic hit in the course of maintaining their cultural advantage, but I can not believe that they understood how much of a hit they were volunteering to take. This may partially explain the level of viciousness directed at Obama and the Democrats: Bubba refuses to accept how badly he has been screwed by his own side, so like a starving hornet he is lashing out at any accessible target.
