"Please give me money while I push for a Constitutional Amendment to stop you from marrying the person you love."
If this doesn't neatly sum up the last 15 years of Republican dogma, I don't know what else would.
Nice summary but I can't say it's complete unless somebody adds "you can't marry that person because of my religious freedom".
ReplyDeleteLog Cabin Republicans: men who love their money more than they love their lovers.
ReplyDeleteFunny how that didn't stop some of the nastiest of closeted Republican operators from dropping by Massachusetts a decade ago, when they found it convenient to step out of character for a moment and take advantage of the quality of life afforded by the bluest of blue states.
It reminds me of an old joke about Log Cabin Republicans cynically exploiting the ban on gay marriage to avoid commitment: "Gee, darling, I'd LOVE to marry you - gs I could get them tobut there's a law against it!"
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, if I were a gay billionaire, I'd definitely invite the Republican candidates over to see how many pro-gay things I could get them to say for cash (in front of a hidden camera, for posting on YouTube). Another old joke:
Q: Would you sleep with me for a million dollars?
A: Yes.
Q: How about for $5?
A: (offended) What kind of person do you think I am???
Reply: We settled that - now we're negotiating a price.
