- Six Congolese park rangers were ambushed and killed at a gorilla sanctuary by poachers Monday, the attack at Virunga National Park is the deadliest there since 12 rangers were killed in April.
- Two Democratic Congresswomen, Bonnie Coleman of New Jersey and Pramila Jayapal of Washington, have tested positive for COVID-19 in the wake of last week's US Capitol attack.
