With a 10-6 lead going into the final day, its biggest lead heading into the singles matches since 1981, the U.S. needed only 4 ½ points to win back the Cup but got off to a slow start in the lead match and struggled from there.
Luke Donald matched Bubba Watson's birdie on the first hole, then won four of the next 11 to take a 4-up lead. Watson tried to fight back with birdies on 14, 15 and 16, but Donald's up-and-down par on 17 gave him a 2-and-1 win. The score was 10-7; counting Saturday, Europe had won three consecutive points.
"I had a lot of responsibility going out number one to get some blue on the board early," Donald said. "I wish I had done it a few holes earlier, but Bubba put some pressure on me at the end, and I was glad I held on."
Paul Lawrie put the finishing touches on his 5-and-3 victory over American Brandt Snedeker, who never quite found his game at this Ryder Cup. It was 10-8.
"I think we don't want to get ahead of ourselves," said Lawrie, who made five birdies and no bogeys, and never trailed, "but right now it's looking pretty good, and we just need to boys to hold on. You never know."
Keegan Bradley and Rory McIlroy, the two most recent PGA Championship winners, traded birdies and war cries in one of the best matches of the day. But Bradley got stymied behind a tree on the par-5 14th, and McIlroy won the hole to go 1 up. He won 15, too, with a birdie after Bradley hit his tee shot into the gallery, and hung on for a 2-and-1 win despite arriving at the course 10 minutes before the tee time. It was 10-9.
Ian Poulter ran his record to 4-0-0 this week when he held off Webb Simpson, 2 up, and all of a sudden it was anyone's ballgame at 10-10.

Last Call
The American side collapse in golf's Ryder Cup singles finals today was so complete, at this point I honestly have to wonder if the US will ever be able to win the damn event again.
No Time Like The Present
Rep. Paul Ryan doesn't have time to explain to you how he's going to pay for the Romney/Ryan tax cuts for the rich...because he can't tell you the truth: a massive tax increase on the other 95% of us. Here he is talking to Chris Wallace on FOX News Sunday:
It would take him too long to go through the math, see, because he'd have to use imaginary numbers and you'd laugh at him and hurt his feelings. Also, he doesn't know, because the math doesn't work in the least. The only way it does is either trillions in massive spending cuts on social programs, trillions in new taxes on the middle class, or he's completely lying and the deficit will skyrocket.
Probably a combination of all three.
There's your math.
WALLACE: So how much would it cost?
RYAN: It’s revenue neutral…
WALLACE: No no, I’m just talking about cuts. We’ll get to the deductions, but the cut in tax rates.
RYAN: The cut in tax rates is lowering all Americans’ tax rates by 20 percent.
WALLACE: Right, how much does that cost?
RYAN: It’s revenue neutral.
[...]
WALLACE: But I have to point out, you haven’t given me the math.
RYAN: No, but you…well, I don’t have the time. It would take me too long to go through all of the math. But let me say it this way: you can lower tax rates by 20 percent across the board by closing loopholes and still have preferences for the middle class. For things like charitable deductions, for home purchases, for health care. So what we’re saying is, people are going to get lower tax rates.

Or You Could Just Turn The Radio Down
Why Bon will never ever work with the public ever again:
AUBURN -- A customer fired a shot through the drive-through window at a Jack in the Box restaurant early Friday after the clerk told the customer he couldn't hear his order over the loud music in his car, police said.
The shooting occurred about 2:55 a.m. Friday when a car blaring loud music pulled into the Jack in the Box franchise at 315 15th Street N.E. in Auburn, said Comander Mike Hirman of the Auburn police.
The customer in the car gave his order, but the clerk told him he couldn't hear his order over the music.
Imagine being this stupid, and out on the loose with the general public. Armed for the win. Yup, the shut-in life is looking pretty sweet. When the car pulled up to the window, the customer pulled out a gun and fired a round through the glass. The bullet struck the far wall, and the customer drove away at high speed.
A Word Of Advice For Lindsay Lohan
... just don't. Don't. We've heard enough from you already. Don't.
Or hey, go on Twitter and make an ass out of yourself. Good girl.
Nobody made Dina Lohan go on Dr. Phil and make a complete slobbering jackass out of herself. That's on her. I know it has to be hard for Lindsay to look at that footage and not think "wow, my mom is screwed up." That's kinda the point. Because the next thought would be "wow, I'm pretty screwed up, too."
The dysfunction of this family is too much to look away from. They're all a mess, but it's all preventable mess so I'm out of sympathy at this point.
If you missed Linday's mom go to the TMZ story and have a peek. It's so godawful you wonder how she got words out at all. If she wasn't drunk, she was high.

Seems the excuse-making shoe is now on the other foot as Lindsay Lohan is now defending mother Dina and her insane interview with Dr. Phil ... placing the blame squarely on his shoulders.
Lindsay came to her mother's defense on Twitter yesterday, saying Dr. Phil should be "ashamed" of himself and calling him a "fraud" and a "bully."

Another Milepost On The Road To Oblivion
Ni-CLANG horizon is close enough to taste, folks.
It won't be long now, especially with Romney losing.
Wheels are coming off the right again. It's rapidly turning into October 2008 all over again.
It won't be long now, especially with Romney losing.
Historically, President Obama is in a solid position to win re-election, if the Gallup tracking poll of the presidential race is any guide.
Wednesday’s release of Gallup’s 7-day tracker puts him at 50 percent to Republican candidate Mitt Romney’s 44 percent, which is well above the trend in the 2004 and 2000 elections. Those elections were dead heats. The current Gallup tracking poll has a 2 percent margin of error, which means Obama’s lead is statistically significant.
