530,000 new jobless claims last week, continuing claims at 6.138 million, slightly better numbers than last week, still dismal overall. The House has approved legislation to extend unemployment benefits for another 13 weeks for states that have unemployment rates over 8.5%, which of course includes the entire Cincy tri-state area. That would give up to 79 weeks of benefits for some Americans, which is sadly going to be needed for millions of them. The country has lost millions of jobs that simply aren't going to be coming back. New industries need to be created, not just jobs.
We've got a long way to go still.
