Everyone has their favorite topics and points of view. I plan to do some lengthy follow-ups on a few things, and some patterns have emerged. I see a lot of things going on, but they all come back to civil rights and the way fear is being used to coerce citizens into giving up their rights. For this, I am going to introduce a new tag: Civil Stupidity.
Here are some things you may see referenced under this tag:
Privacy - We are losing our right to privacy and our freedom to make decisions for ourselves. Some of this started with Bush's failures by allowing calls to be tapped without a warrant, and has continued with Obama. Internet privacy is going to become a hot topic while ISPs fight for customers.
Women's rights - Over the past few years, women have had some successes with equal treatment, but they are the exception to the rule. Equal pay in the workforce was killed by Republicans, and recently it was suggested that women may not be guaranteed protection and equality in the Constitution. The latter was in contradiction to a unanimous ruling, but the fact that it was even uttered is cause for alarm.
LGBT issues - Dont Ask Don't Tell, gay marriage, the ability for two consenting adults to live how they please. Why is this anyone's business? Why does anyone feel they have the right to dictate how others should live? I proudly performed my first same-sex wedding ceremony, and I hope to report some breakthroughs on this front in 2011.

The 2007 or 2008 update to FISA ends this in 2013.

For who? People who like to film their sexual activities, legal or illegal, and put them out on the Internet? That's ridiculous. Government won't be able to solve this problem more than they do now.

Here is a study that just came out that provides an argument why this whole equal pay thing is full of crap.

Spare me. Casey harmed men's rights more than any women's rights have been harmed over the same time period. Casey was based on the same 14th Amendment mentioned by Bon. But a liberal will never say anything about that, not even the men.

DADT? Why did it take Democrats 4 full years before repealing a problem they created (a Democrat-majority Congress created DADT in 1993, which was signed into law by Democrat Bill Clinton)?
Gay marriage and why this is anyone's business? For 99.992% of the 5000 years of written human history, there was no such thing as gay marriage until homosexual lobbyists made it everyone's business and have used the courts, instead of the legislative process, to unconstitutionally force it down everyone's throats. I don't really care about the business of homosexual couples, but they repeatedly and voluntarily put their lifestyle on display. Why the hell don't they leave the rest of us alone, huh?

I'm a cigarette smoker. Don't talk to me about how others have no problem dictating how I should live. Then you have the Marxists running Frisco, banning toys in Happy Meals. And lastly, you have that food bill that allows the federal government to feed dinners in school off hours, to dictate what gets served, and to regulate bake sales. There's a lot of people who like to dictate how others should live, and it goes way beyond the LGBT community.
Given Obama's horrible record on civil liberties and privacy and LGBT rights, you must not be a fan of the guy then.
Good for you, Bon, on the wedding. We've had them at our church, too, and a new member was just described in terms of "his husband."
Seeing this category of people become freer to be real is one of the few sparkling stars in the last decade.
