It is evident from the length of this deliberative process and from the flood of leaks that have emerged from Kabul and Washington that the perfect course of action does not exist. Given that reality, the urgent necessity is to make a decision -- whether or not it is right.And I wonder to myself, "Self, why are we still in Afghanistan after eight friggin' years?"
And the answer is simple, and I finally get it thanks to David Broder: The people in charge have urgently been making decisions about Afghanistan whether or not they were the right ones.
David Broder and the Villagers have been in charge of our Afghanistan policy all this time. That explains everything.
