We No Longer Build Excitement

Pontiac is out of gas as of Monday.
General Motors is preparing to announce that the Pontiac car brand, once marketed as GM's "Excitement division," will be killed off, according to a source familiar with the decision.

An official announcement is expected Monday. GM spokesman Jim Hopson declined to comment on Pontiac's fate, saying the automaker has no announcements to make at this time.

Not a good day.

Then again, when's the last time you bought a Pontiac outside of high school?

That's really too bad. They've been around since 1926. I've always thought the Grand Am was a good car - I know the wife's lasted her forever. And the Solstice looked like it was cutting into the "performance coupe" market. I have a co-worker who has one, and he loves it. *sigh* It's too bad, I guess. But, what can you do about crappy management? Where's Lee Iacocca when you need him (besides being killed off by a hitman gunning for Ozymandius)?
