It's possible that a White House official did say it; I certainly wouldn't put it past them. But I would guess that there's an equal chance that if he or she did, it's because the official watches Harwood saying it on TV every other week and was currying favor with him. After all, there is no villager more contemptuous of the left than John Harwood. And yet here we go down the log flume ride again, ignoring the signs that say "You WILL get wet, you MAY get soaked" and wondering why we're covered in that water stuff again.
Played like a piano, guys.

Frankly, as an occasional activist, this sort of thing is stupid and not worthy of getting upset over. Of course some people are going to object to the way you go about advocating for a cause, I remember the pressure from Clinton folks here in NYC to just admit Obama wasn't experienced enough... blah blah blah. But I fought for something I believed in, and I still think he is a better choice than her (imagine if the whole WH was like Rahm), and ignored what the establishment said. It should be a badge of honor that you are creating a stir, someone is afraid you will replace them.
Folks like Cenk Uygur and Sully got upset over this today, but if you really believe in what you are fighting for (and I think they both do) then you need to learn to get over this sort of shenanigans. Anonymous sources be damned.
