If It's Thursday...

...I must be slacking. Good news and bad news on the unemployment front: First-time claims dropped to under 600k for the first time since January, to 552,000. Bad news, continuing claims hit a new record anyway, jumping up 159,000 to 6.88 million.

Fewer people are being fired. Fewer people however are finding work once unemployed. Still very bad.
